Small ulcers on tongue

My dd1 and dd2 are both a bit under the weather. Cough, cold, tired and have loads of small ulcers all over their tongue. I have no cold but I also have the ulcers but dh doesn't! Is this a virus? Anyone else had this? What can I do for them as they don't want to eat as it hurts too much? Thanks

Are the ulcers only on the tongue? My DD has just had something similar- cold, temperature but with small ulcers all over gums & tongue plus gums bleeding very easily. Lasted about a week in total. Really bad for about 5 days & nights. Just gave her calpol & neurofen to manage the pain. Lots of fluids & soft foods eg poached egg, yoghurt, Ella's baby food pouches. I've had a similar thing a couple of times in last few years when I'm run down. If there are no other symptoms I think it is viral-related. I found this info helpful. familydoctor.org/familydoctor/en/health-tools/search-by-symptom/mouth-problems-infants-children.html%2311
It was the only thing that kept me from taking her to A+E one of the nights when I'd been awake with her crying inconsolably on my shoulder from 2-5am!
