dd was sick during the night and every hour today. She's meant to be back at school tomorrow but seems unlikely. is it true you should wait 48 hours from last vomit before sending to school?

Yes - PLEASE don't send your child in until they've been symptom free (vomit or the other end!) for 48 hours.

If I sound desperate it's because I've always followed the rules to be faced with mums standing outside wondering if their children will have been OK at school today and then admitting that they've been throwing up all week but seemed a bit better!!! AAAGGGGHHHH

48 hours at our school.

Yes, 48 hours and at least 24, that's the minimum I think if it's something special going on at school and they are REALLY fine and have been for ages...but the rule is 48 hours and I always do that.

Yes, wait 48 hrs after the last episode of either vomiting or diarrhoea, as these things are usually highly contagious. So maybe you'd be best sending her in next week so she can fully recover.

We've all had a stomach bug, I wonder if maybe its norovirus, as it was with a fever too. I normally have the stomach of an ox and even I succumbed, not felt so ill for a long time. So hope your DD feels better soon.

Thanks all. So disappointing to miss out on first day back after holidays. She's just been sick again so if i go by the book we're talking friday earliest. maybe i should just wait till monday as someone suggests.

She has a slight temp now too - 37.8.
