5mo baby nappy habits

My son usually only poops every day or every other day, but for the last week he's gone 6-7 times per day. They get progressively lighter and runnier and the day gets on but as the day progresses they start getting more jelly-like. I've taken a sample up to the dr and am waiting but because of timing it had to be from his earliest nappy, which was the most normal. Also, as the poop is very wet, most is absorbed by the nappy before we get to it. His bum makes terrible explosive sounds too when he goes, even when there's not much to show for it.

He's ff and we had started early, slow weaning which he'd been absolutely fine with. We've now just kept him on milk but the problem persists. Any ideas? Any way we can help him?

Thanks

Hi manc thanks very much for your reply. His tests came back clear but he went really really runny for a few days - we've reintroduced solids and that has made it a bit firmer but he's still going 6+ times each day. We're trying him on some non cows milk formula now at Drs suggestion (well it'd have to be - she reckons the cartons are £25 each and he'll be on 2 per week - thank God for the NHS!) so we'll see if that helps.
