Night time cough in 3 1/2 yr old

My Dd has over the last week had a coughing session during the night. I have put it down to dust as we've had a builder in. She is fine during the day. The cough sounds loose but she doesn't expel anything. Any other ideas? Am going to take her to doc Mon if it carries on over the weekend. Could it be asthma? Hoping not ;-(

We have seen paediatric Drs for last 2 yrs re. nighttime coughing. We've tried loads of asthma medication and none of it's worked so probably not that. In the end they did allergy tests and found out he was allergic to house dust mites but otherwise there's nothing.

Might be worth getting it checked out buot if she's ok during the day then it might just be increased dust as you mentioned. The asthma doctor said almost all coughs are worse at night by virtue of lying down.

Hope she's better soon.

We tried a cold humidifier for ds with night time cough, and to my surprise it zeroed a treat. Has been money well spent (think about £30 from Argos?) as he seems a bit prone to these things.

Was worried it was asthma, as DH suffers in summer, but so far so good...
