Heya, I'm a little unsure as to what to do.

My ds is 21 months old and I just noticed when I changed a dirty nappy that the area around his anus was bleeding.

I know it was the outside because I wiped it away and waited and saw it come back.

Any advice please.

Thanx

Nappy rash? Sorry, not much help.

workshy · 30/08/2012 19:07

has he been constipated?

they can get small tears, I would keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it happens again

red blood is always better than black so try not to worry too much

has he been constiated or his stools hard? could be that he has a tiny fissure- tear around his anus.
Sure it's nothing serious. Could check with GP tomorrow.
This area tends to bleed a lot if he has a cut.

Is it the skin of his bottom that is bleeding?

Sounds like bad nappy rash. I find if my DC sit in a dirty nappy for too long/not wiped totally clean their skin bleeds in little patches.

Nappy off time will help it heal, and I'd use a barrier cream (like sudocrem) after every nappy change.

He's not been constipated he has 2 dirty nappies a day.

Thanx for the help I will ring tomoz and see what he says.
