DS2 9 yrs had grommits put in January this year....and it has been a nightmare !!
The story.......
It was a gradual build up of me realising something was not right ..3/4 years ago he said he could not hear people on the phone if he used his left ear.....school were saying he was not "remembering" instructions (? not hearing them properly ?)
Any how got referal for ENT at hospital...4 appointments 6 months apart ...hearing not normal/normal/not normal /not normal ...they wanted to do the wait and see approach due to his age as adenoids can shrink and therefore help ...
He HAD never had ear infection or anything they said he had AIR behind his eardrum which was making his eardrum test do the flat line .
Left ear bleed loads afterwards and ended up with a blood and wax clot they decided to leave alone..it would sort itself out ....even though it annoyed him.
Right ear ..lovely... doctor even let me see it through her "special thingy"..I could see it .
Said we would be fine to go to Spain in August(just back)..
While in Spain I had to take him to the hospital due to bleeding fron L ear (?loosing blood clot ?) but A&E in Spain (or the doctor) did not know what grommits were (I had a translater )
Come home R ear sore I look to find GREEN PUS coming from it !
On anti biotics from oohd and got ENT app fri am ....
But does any one else wish they just hadn't bothered !!!!
He cant seem to hear any better in loud surroundings ..but his audiology test in June did show an approvement .
SO SO SO sorry for this long one ....just fed up
