Has anyine had a baby so young prescribed this? She has 0.3.3 ml of ranitidine 3times a day and she seems so spaced out and drowsy since taking it so im a little worried x

Ranitidine causes drowsiness in very rare cases.

My dd was prescribed it from 4 months old to 5 years old and to be honest, without it, I would have lost my mind and she would have been a very poorly child. She is probably growing and babies sleep needs do change often at that age. Try not to worry. If she is still lethargic tomorrow I would ring GP and get some reassurance.

Thank u for your advice. i did ask them if they could check for some sort of intolerance but they just said i would gave known by now :-\ but she has definatly cried alot less than usual probably cauae she has been asleep all day but she has woke up for her feeds. she has also had three dirty nappies today where as before she was really straining and had one every two-three days so im guessing.its helping.her clear her system out. shes also bringing up quite abit if milk after her feeds but i guess thats down to the reflux xxx

It took us months to work out that dd was lactose intolerant as well as suffering from awful reflux. @You would know by now' is just a ridiculous statement to make! Listen to your gut (no pun intended!); if she's feeding better and happier then hopefully you have found the answer. I am sure she's just enjoying some sleep without discomfort and will be back to her noisy self soon enough!

I have just joined and would like some advise or reassurances, my baby nate is 6 weeks old and he has what I think is colic or wind he lifts his little legs and goes very pink on the face and screams. I have started giving him infacol but the old thing is his poo is creamy think and green, has anyone ever seen this or should I take him to the doctors. I am breastfeeding. I know they say too much fore milk makes the poo green but should it be thick?

NorthernGobshite · 29/08/2012 09:31

mama I would visit GP is poo is frothy and green; could be a bug, could be an intolerance...best to get checked out as baby clearly in discomfort.

angel it sounds like ske was just catching up on sleep and feeling more comfortable. I hope Ranitidine is the answer for you and baby; it saved us! My dd was on it until well over 5 years old and she is now fine; she occasionally has reflux but then so do I! Most babies grow out of it once their upright more so good luck x

I have taken him to see the GP and apparently it's normal and the colic/wind should stop or ease up after 3 months. Thanks for the replies.
