Advice needed please ladies.
My sisters little boy is 3 and a half and hasn't been for a poo since Friday. He says he needs to go but wont/cant.

Been to chemists and bought syrup of figs, chemist wouldn't give anything else. Tried squeezing fresh oranges but he wont drink it, will however eat the orange!!
He doesn't like medication of any kind, will only take calpol etc disguised in yogurt, chemist said it was fine to put the figgy stuff in yogurt.

Any advice or is doctors best advice?
TIA

I used the fig syrup with my DD and found it very effective. Has he had some painful poos recently? I find if they have a poo that hurts, it puts them off!

Thanks Puds, how long did it take to work? DN had a 5ml spoon at teatime yesterday, assuming my sister has given him some more by now, how long did it take to 'kick in'? Never had trouble before afaik .

For my DD it was the next day, and she was fine after that. Good luck Smile

my DD was younger when we had terrible ploblems and we used prunes - boilt them for a while and then used the liquid with a bit of flesh blended it. Worked very well with similar time horizons. :) Also pears are good. one time when it was particularly bad we happened to be in france and were given these things you stick in their bottom which worked amazingly. Not sure if they do them in this country but no pain and immediate effect!!! I wished then we had been given them here as for a couple of months my DD suffered from terrible constipation (absolutely fine now, touch wood). Best of luck.
