Childhood immunisations

Hi, i'm a mum of a little boy who is 19months old. I have recently come back to work and work for a Doctors surgery in my local area. Since coming back to work i have been given the task of trying to get childhood immunisations figures up. I have tried many things and even started a new mother and baby group within the surgery, however figures still aren't fantastic. I'm hoping to start a new innitiative and really get parents/carers interested in the immunisation programme and realise the importance. Does anybody have any ideas on how to best approach this topic? and how you would prefer to be reminded/informed about your childs vaccinations. All ideas welcome! Thanks adrienne

I think the key is to find out why they aren't getting children vaccinated before you can try to encourage more uptake.

Do you work with hv/children's centres who can try to find the reasons?

yes i work with the hvisitors, nurses, childrens centres etc. All the health visitors constantly remind and so do we as a srugery by sending letters, ringing parents etc. When speaking to mums about why they havent attended, 99% just forget or things pop up that can't be helped. And some mums just don't want them, which is totally there choice. I'm just wondering if there is a way in your local area that seems to have a system that works or if anybody can think of any effective reminders?

It seems the people i contact/talk to at the moment are already fully upto date with imms. I'm trying to get the harder to reach people.
