Achy fingers in 7yo

My DS is complaining that his fingers ache when he wakes in the mornings. Apparently both his hands are stiff and joints crack as he opens his fingers. He's the first time he's mentioned it today but he says it's been happening for 'a while'.

Any ideas what this could be? I'm wondering whether he sleeps with his fists clenched? Hadn't noticed when i go in to check him but i'll have a look tonight.

Is he otherwise OK. Not prone to stumbling or tripping or twisting his ankle? My joints are like this in the morning and my hands are hypermobile (ligaments too stretchy) I'd definitely talk to your GP and ask for a referral to a physio.

Thanks for your reply ourve

He's absolutely fine health wise, never had a single day off school (in 4 years) and not clumsy in any way. He's very sure on his feet and always has been unlike my DD who was forever falling over when she was younger!

Just looked up hypermobility and although he's quite flexible i don't think his joints are that bendy.

We're going on holiday tomorrow so i don't think there's a chance of getting an appointment before then. Will keep a close eye on him though.
