Ds is 19mo. I am a teacher and during term time he goes to nursery 2 days per week. We pay for the place during the holidays too, so I try to send him 1 day per week just to keep him used to it and also it allows me to get stuff done. However we have been away fOr the past 2 weeks, so he has missed it. I had planned to send him in tomorrow but my friend had just text to say last week it was nearly empty as lots of kids send home with chicken pox and hand foot and mouth.

Now normally I would still send him as I figure he will pick it up at some point but my sister is getting married in three weeks time which is when he would have symptoms if he caught it tomorrow, isn't it? I have a v long list of jobs I was planning an getting through tomorrow, but now am not sure about sending him. Dh and my mum both say to send him as it he has already missed 2 weeks and it might make it harder for him to settle back in the longer he is off. (we had a wobbly start at 11 mo but now he loves it). He will have to go the week before the wedding as I am back at work then.

i would send him.
he could already be incubating it as it can take up to 3 weeks to show, so could plausibly have got it the week before you went away.
plus, if it's going round there is a reasonable chance he's been exposed to it anyway.

He is only likely to get chicken pox if he comes into contact with a child who is carrying it, most of the infected children will already be off with it, but obviously there is a chance he could catch it. I think though you would have to keep him off till after the wedding to guarantee that he won't catch it, and is that possible, feasible or even sensible?

Send him in, DS got chicken pox on his last day of nursery 3.5 years after starting.
