My 15 month old DS has always sucked his thumb to go to sleep which is fine by me - I did as a child and as he's a real sleep fighter it's a godsend. However, he's got molars coming through and has been not just sucking his thumb more than normal but chewing it, and the pad has become really raw. It doesn't seem to bother him but it looks so sore. Is there anything I could put on it to help heal and/or protect it but that won't harm him if he swallows it? Lansinoh, maybe?! Not sucking thumb not really an option, though I'm trying to discourage it during the day as much as I can.....
