Chicken pox!

My DD1 has just come out in the pox - the spots started appearing yesterday and I also have a DD2 who doesn't yet have it. I was hoping someone may know the incubation period of the pox as we are due to go on our first holiday 2 weeks on Monday.

I suspect that wherever DD1 picked it up DD2 will have been as well as they tend to go everywhere together.

Any help would be great as I have had a look on the NHS website and can't find out anything very useful apart from once the spots scab over they are no longer infectious. Hmm

I have DT's who also go every where together - same playgroups etc and share a bedroom. DT2 got his first spots 15 days ago and DT1 got his first spots yesterday - sorry probably not what you want to hear.

2 weeks is about the right time, from spots appearing in one child to appearing in the next.

Eer, do you have travel insurance? Where is your hol?

Handsfullandrunningforgold · 28/07/2012 19:42

Just had a quick look and found this - link they say 14 -24 days.

madbutnotbad · 28/07/2012 19:43

Oh dear 2 weeks is what I had in my head but was hoping that I had got confused somewhere!

We are supposed to be going to Butlins, not sure if we have insurance, I hope we do but even if we do we can't go any other time as DH can only get the week we are going off work!

Sounds awful but I really hope to see a spotty DD2 in the next few days as she has been very tired and grumpy recently. Sad

Hate to tell you this - my two have just had it. DD's spots came out 2 weeks to the day after DS's.

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 28/07/2012 19:55

My two started with it 13 days apart when they had it earlier in the year. 10-21 days I think is the incubation period. If they both get it now you may be ok for your holiday but if they take it in turns it may not be so good.

ThePhantomPlopper · 28/07/2012 20:58

My DD1 and DD2 caught it from the same source, DD1's spots came out 24hrs after DD2's. Today is 14 days to the day that DD2 came out in spots, DS's 1st spot was spotted this afternoon! Argh.

Hope you still get your holiday.
