Children's blood pressure

Can anyone shed some light on what is the normal range for children's blood pressure?

DS had his checked today and it was 101/55.
I have no idea if thats a good reading for a 10 year old. They didn't say it wasn't so I guess thats a good sign but they are now tesing his thyroid gland but I'm not sure if that blood pressure result had anything to do with their reasons for thyroid gland test.

We have to wait 2 months for the results but I'm not overly worried at the moment. He is generally well and today was just a routine check up for reoccurring migraines.

That's a perfectly reasonable blood pressure for a 10 year old (I'm a paediatric nurse). Surprised they didn't say why they want to check his thyroid function - did they say whether they were concerned re under active or over active thyroid. I'd imagine he mst have some other symptoms (aside from the migraines) for them to order the investigation though.

The front of his neck is swollen which they believe is possibly caused by his thyroid gland not working correctly.
They did a blood test today and they will have those results quickly but we have to wait for an appointment for a scan on his neck. If the blood test shows any problems, they will contact me soon but they didn't actually say when.

Thanks for replying Smile

Got his appt, have to wait until the end of August for it. Nevermind, I'm sure all is well and its just a case of the Dr being over cautious which I don't mind. Better safe than sorry I say.
