Meconium aspiration syndrome

Wife gave birth to 2nd son 2 weeks ago, however during the birth he aspirated meconium which got into his lungs, after 2 days of ventilation and 5 days of antibiotics he was transferred out of NICU and in to a cot. Since being in the cot he has maintained his need for oxygen currently fluctuating between 0.02 and 0.08 on the flow rate.
Has anyone else been in this situation and any ideas how long it will take as the doctors and nurses are unable to say. Have searched net and can't find anything with length of time to get off oxygen.A
Thanks for reading and any help you may be able to offer

I don't have direct experience but didn't want to leave your post unanswered overnight; where I've seen people sharing experiences online (excluding very mild MAS) it seems to have been between 3 and 5 weeks on oxygen, alyhough obviously all cases differ.

I hope your son pulls through and gets off the oxygen soon; it must be a tremendous strain for you all.

Thanks for the message casey, helps to give a bit of perspective to it and almost a potential end date of 3 more weeks.
