3 weeks after flight ear still not popped!

Almost 3 weeks ago, coming home from holiday, DD had bad ear pain on the plane while landing.

After landing she couldn't make it pop, which isn't too unusual for her it can often take a few hours after flying. She has ear problems as a young child and the problem is with her "bad" ear, it has some scaring of the eardrum, but it fine now, apart from this problem.

Went to GP last week to get it checked out, he said basically just to try to make it pop, to do the hold nose blow thing as often as she could, but that's only making the "good" ear pop, doing nothing in the bad ear. He also gave menthol stuff to steam inhale, but that's not helped either.

A friend suggested swimming might help with the pressure of being underwater, but no luck there either.

She has started to feel occasionally dizzy and started to feel travel sick on even a short 10 min journey which I think is also related, which is annoying for her, and also her hearing in that ear is muffled and she says can sometimes "crackle"??

Anyone ever experienced this,or know of a good way to make an ear pop, please help!

I had this on my last trip abroad, my ear refused to pop for about 4 weeks, it eventually sorted itself out but it was bloomin' annoying at the time. It didn't 'pop' though, I just gradually became less deaf. Also had burst ear drum (in the same ear) as a teen, so probably something to do with it. No quick cure, though, sorry.

I had a quick google, there's a few suggestions online.

Thanks Sossiges, hopefully it will just right itself in the same way that yours did then. The eardrum in that ear has burst several times, so that is obviously connected then.

Have tried lots of the suggestions from I've found on google but had no luck so far, I think she might be too young for a proper decongestant, rather than just olbas oil or whatever, but will check in the chemist later.
