My DS got really bad oral thrush at 3 weeks old.

He had the nystatin drops from 4 weeks and we used them 3 times a day for two weeks and then gave up as it was making no difference, the trust actually cleared up by itself in two weeks after stopping the drops.

Has he got any thrush around his genital area? DS has little spots around his bum which we needed some canesten for, also if your breast feeding make sure you go back immediately if your nipples start to hurt, catching thrush on my nipples was the worst pain I've ever had!

Hope your DS is feeling better soon, go back to the GP if the thrush is lingering and see if they can help some more!

Are you BF?
If so, take some probiotics yourself. It worked in two days for my DDs thrush.

Daktarin gel on their tongues and on my breasts before feeding worked for us.
Also, I had it on my breasts - I used to put Canasten on there between feeds and wash it off before they fed.

DS had this for a while when I was bf - I was told that oral thrush can be very persistent and you have to keep treating until it's properly cleared. It took three lots of nystan for DS (luckily he liked the flavour!), and I used canestan on nipples between feeds to avoid it passing backwards and forwards between us (although I never had any symptoms). Good luck!
