DS is 6 (will be 7 next month). He takes one 10mg tablet of Cetirizine every day for his hayfever. He now has a stinking cold and I wanted to give him some Medised before bed. Is it ok to give Medised aswell as the Cetirizine?
TIA

Medised contains a sedating antihistimine plus paracetamol. as DS already takes an antihistimine its probably safer not to take two together. A pharmacist would know for sure. Ring a late night chemist. NHS Direct look at drug interactions but take ages to call you back Sad

Thanks sneezecake, I'll try to find the number of a late night chemist

I'm not a pharmacist, but wouldn't advise giving 2 things with antihistamines in.

Can you just give him paracetamol or ibuprofen instead?

Yeah, I could give him Calpol or Nurofen I guess, it's just that from past experience with DS, Medised is usually the only thing that gets him through the night when he's got a cold. It somehow seems to unblock his nose and stop the post nasal drip that causes him to cough. Still trying to get through to a pharmacy

Thanks for your responses. I managed to get hold of a late night chemist who said Medised is fine with Cetrizine as they contain different types of antihistimine. Good to know

Oh well done for getting through.

Hope he's better soon
