Hi all just wondered if anyone had any cough remedies.
DS is 2 and had a temp tues of 39.0 had gone by morning and fine. Come Saturday and hes spiking temps between 38.0 and 39.2 the last one. Im alternating calpol and ibuprofen to try and keep him comfortable. He looks unwell. He has a dry barking cough and keeps crying when he coughs. Hes snuggled up with his dad at the mo. GP says its a virus. one of his ears is a bit inflamed and his tonsils are enlarged like they are fighting infection she said. Anyhow ive given him some honey to lemon in warm prev boiled water to sooth his cough but wondered if any wise mums netters had any weird and wonderful remedies to sooth the poor lads suffering.

Cheers

I don't no any natural remedies but you can buy children's cough medicine in the chemist. And he can also have calpol and ibuprofen at the same time no need to alternate.

Yeah thanks, have been sort of doing the calpol 4 hrly and ibuprofen 6 hrly so they stagger. Tried calcough and it didnt do anything. He liked it tho, tasted of apple :)

Try putting bowl of hot water with some drops of olbas oil in it in his room - obviously somewhere he can't reach or where it might be easily knocked! - the steam should help.

Thanks will give that a go. I've put a smear of Vicks on him as that's all I have got. Think he will feel better if he can get a good sleep.

I was dubious, but a cold humidifier has helped my dcs with dry coughs. Got it in Argos.
