Spots?

Can you suggest a cause for some spots that have appeared today on my 3 yo ds?

They are a livid red, varying sizes from freckle sized up to nearly 5p. No central blister or head (yet). He has a couple high up his legs, one on his wrist, but a large number in a fairly straight line (some running into each other) across his back at the space between trouser and top. None on his stomach at the same height.

He is totally well in himself.

If he hadn't been wearing waterproof dungerees under waterproof coat when we were wandering beside the river today I would have suspected some kind of plant contact reaction.

Beastie? We have a cat and I am far from the best housekeeper, but nothing seems much worse today - and ankles (and other toddler) are free from attack.

Disease?

Suggestions I can google for pics please. Need to know whether we need doctor appointment quickly, and whether we can mingle with other children tomorrow.

Thanks.

Shingles tends to follow a nerve line before - has he had chickenpox? Are they generally on one side of the body? Google shingles.

Or molluscum? Though I don't think you'd get so many in one go...

DS has just had chicken pox, it started just like that. Doc diagnosed molluscum at first, but 5 days after first spots it wad clearly cp.

Yes actually thinking back now, ds had two winy pimply spots on his front and back - never thought anything of it as he is a rashy kid. 2 days later - full blown chickenpox. Dd came out in very obvious cpox straight away and got about 600+ at a guess all out and scabbed over in 3/4 days. Ds took about 10 days before we could take him out again.

He has had cp - but so mildly I fully expected to see it again. I'll see how it develops. Had already decided we were confined to the house again!!!

More spots today on legs. The ones on his back are fading by spreading out a bit. Waiting on a phone call from the doctor, or an appointment on Wednesday.

Thanks.
