6 month old DD fell off changing table

and I've made the mistake of googling.....

She fell onto her front, cried instantly for 5 minutes, nothing seems to be tender/red/swelling and she stopped crying with nothing more than a cuddle and a silly face. My instinct is that she's fine but I'm an idiot I googled babies falling off changing tables and there's rather a lot about not letting your baby fall asleep in case they fall into a coma. DD is fast asleep as I type and I really don't want to waste OOHs time.

I honestly think she's fine otherwise we'd be on the way to A&E but is anything that I should be aware of?

I fell off one of those old style plastically ones as a baby. I am fine IMO. Grin

Although my mum noticed a few years ago in certain lights my forhead is slightly mishaped - remember babies bones are soft.

If your concerned go to A&E but her crying IM (non medical) O is a good sign. Also IIRC the latest advice is it's OK to let people sleep after a head injury.

I would do the same as you, but if they seem excessively sleepy or start vomiting then go to A&E. Or if she wakes in discomfort, and I think if she wakes you can check her pupils are responding to light. (shine a light on her and they should shrink)

Dd2 fell (tried to climb and failed) out of the buggy, and a couple of hours later started throwing up. She was fine, and the doctor said that sometimes the shock makes them vomit. Just so you don't panic if she is sick later.

Thank you, I never usually google and I don't know what possessed me this time. Will see how she is at her next feed and take it from there.

The only other advice I'd suggest is to get rid of the changing table - use a mat on the floor!

DD fell off the drawers at 9 months. I'm still not sure if she hit the ground or if I got my hands between her and it in time. She was okay after a cry and a cuddle. I was a nervous wreck and got my 3 year old to ring daddy.

If she isn't sick, feeds okay and seems her usual self then she is probably fine but if you are worried phone/go for advice.

DS flipped of my bed onto the wooden floor at 6 months.

I started a thread on here as I was sat in the A&E waiting room. He was sleeping, I was covered in snotty tears. I was on my own, had diagnosed all sorts of terrible life-changing outcomes varying from head injury to child neglect registers.

In reality I got Hmm and Confused faces from the nurses and doctor. Not for my terrible parenting but for why on earth was I sat there sobbing holding what was, quite obviously to everyone else, a perfectly healthy child.

If you think she is ok OP then I'm sure she is. If you had any worries I have no doubt you would take her to be checked out. They bounce way better than you would think!

Used to be an A&E nurse and one little baby not only fell off the changing table hitting her head on the floor, but also hit her head ON the table on the way down. She was fine though the parents were distraught Smile

DS fell off top bunk today.
I feel dreadful. Although I suppose he had to do it to see why I am forever yelling at him to get off the bed.

He has hurt himself. His arm, ribs and wrist are bothering him but we don't think broken, just bruised. Watching him carefully.

Guilty all over.

Well, she woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, fed as normal and has dropped off to sleep again as normal so I think she is fine which is a huge relief.

Thank you all :)
