Day six of high temp

DD 6, has had a tummy bug and a cough and is now on the 6th day of a high temperature. No other symptoms now, except the cough. It comes down with calpol/nurofen. Took her to the doctor yesterday who said it's probably viral but if the high temp continues to give her antibiotics which she prescribed.

This morning again, she's 38c, but eaten breakfast and quite chirpy!

Just don't know how long this temp is going to last and when I should start to worry.

Any advice greatly received!

I'd give her the antibiotics tbh. It could be that she has a chest infection and that's also why she's been sick. Not all chest infections can be heard with a stethoscope.

DS2 had something similar, after 2 weeks with a temp of 40c and numerous trips to the drs they sent us to the hospital.

There they couldn't find anything, and said to come back in a couple of days if it hadn't gone (open admission), 2 days later they decided he had a chest infection and gave him antibiotics, within a couple of days the fever had completely gone.

I would give her the antibiotics.
