Nervous tic?

ds (4) has developed several habits. It started with throat clearing while eating - he now does this every time he eats. More recently he has started blinking continually and scratching his skin all over too. I suspected hay fever and so gave him some Piriton, which made no difference.

I've made an appt with the docs but it seems a million years away. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of thing?

my ds also developed little tics about the same age. Throat clearing was one, the other was running his thumb and finger down the sides of his nose. It went away after a while. They come back every now and again, particularly when he is concentrating or tired, like when he is reading. But he hasn't had any for about 2 years (he's now 7). I think it is common in boys more than girls, and something they grow out of. I wouldn't worry too much, though I know it is hard not to.
