Rash and cough

My 9yo DD has had a rash on her trunk, arms and legs for a week. It came on last week in the very humid weather we had. Dr said first possibly an allergic reaction, she then got welts on her thighs which we hard, red and swollen. She then started with a sore throat and is now coughing. Dr saw her again and said a viral reaction now.
She's on piriton and cetrizine. The rash is slightly better, but the welts on her legs are still there, but a bit better than they were.
Anyone have experience of anything similar? She has always had very dry skin, so wonder if it's related to that.

I am here to seek rash and fever/cough. Mydd 6 has been under the weather today, not terrible but enough for me to think I'm keeping her off tomorrow. Bit of a wet cough and runny nose and wiped out (hiiiighly unusual). But in the bath I noticed that what I thought was a scrape on the school run earlier is actually a large patch of allergic looking rash. There's a band around her ankle, over her bits and on her hip too. I figure it's the virus. The welts aren't hard or swollen though. Temp 37.5 which is mild as temps go for her when she is ill. HATE it when they get weird symptoms. Is the rash causing the fever? Is the fever just a virus that comes with rash bogf? Ach.

My DS2 had a really bad virus with fevers for a week, he then came out in hives. I just treated the hives with clamine lotion and when he started to get better they went.
