Head growth rate- should I be worried?

My Ds 2 was has weighed 25th centile pretty much since birth and is still on that line at 16 weeks. His head measurement was done for the first time at his 6 week check and it was on the 75th centile.
I have since had family members commenting on the shape and size of his head so I have rung the HV this morning and waiting for her to return my call. I have measured his head myself (I'm not sure if there's a specific place to measure it) and it seems to now be on the 99th centile. His head does look really big and quite bulbus, but I'm not sure if this should be a concern. Should I be worried?

DD had a wierd ledge that came up on the back of her head at a couple of months old. To quote my HV - 'heads do all sorts of strange things in the first year as they are growing. It's usually nothing to worry about and often corrects itself in a few months'.
Do your family or his Dad's family have large heads? It's often hereditary. If I were you I'd get the HV to check him to put your mind at rest, but you'll probably find his body will catch up with his head soon. Babies all grow at different rates. Smile

Thank you, yes some of our family have quite big heads..... Hopefully it's just that. Hv had said to see the gp so I'm going to do that but hopefully nothing to worry about. Thanks for your postSmile
