Body odour at 5?

Hi, my daughter has recently turned five, and I notice that she has BO under her arms. It's not strong enough to notice without actually going up close to her armpits. I'm shocked as I have an older child who has not got this yet.

Is this an early stage of puberty? She is quite big for her age and has already lost her first tooth at only 4 years old!

Would appreciate any advice, or find out if anyone else has experienced something similar?

Thanks in advance!

Niamh

It could be a lactose allergy - looked on google and some people have changed to organic milk and it appears to have resolved the problem......

dd1 had first signs of BO at 4-5, on a very hot day - I remember it well, I was so shocked!

It happened on and off for a year, then stopped for two years or more - and has come back, on hot days, now she is 8. I panicked about premature puberty, but she had no other signs and still hasn't - just seems to be ahead of her time on the BO side of things.

I bought some natural deodorant and it did the trick, and just about still does. I just explained to her that some children's bodies develop faster in some ways, and this is how we stay fresh and smelling nice etc etc. She is fine with it. A year or two from now I imagine most of her friends will be using deodorant too.

Been using deodorant on my son since he was 5 (he's 9 now and hasn't yet succumbed to an early puberty). Funny thing is his pits started to smell as his feet stopped (his feet had been dodgy from babyhood)
