Daft questions re asthma and excercise

DS is 2.6 and asthmatic. Never really been well controlled and just getting over a 6 week block of it being really bad not helped by pneumonia.

Last week we went swimming, only in the pool for half an hour and other than a little bit coughy when we got out he seemed fine (had had 3 extra ventolin puffs before going in though). That evening he was more chesty though and the next day he was chesty/tired as if he had an attack looming which never came.

Today we went to soft play and it seems the same pattern is happening again. Fine at the time but struggling hours later.

I always thought that the effects from exercise would be immediate so I am a bit confused now. Is it normal for it to come on later? If the extra ventolin hiding/stopping immediate problems?

It may be Sirzy. My dd had asthma and swam competativly (sp?). I know it's good excercise. How about having a word with yhour GP to check the dosage = lifestyle?

I think it's normal, at least for my DS it is.

Thank you both, he sees the consultant at the end of the month so hopefully he can help then he is already on pretty high doses of everything though so will just have to see what is said.
