Help please - 14mo with swollen lymph node

My 14mo DS has a lump the size of an egg under his ear, have spoken to the Doc and she says it's prob a swollen lymph node, but can't see us tll 3:15.

I had a quick look at Dr Google and read that lumps smaller than 1" are probably viral, while those over 1/1.5" are likely to be bacterial and therefore need antibiotics and possibly draining at Hosp - my question really is; it's ok to wait two hours to see the Doc isn't it? I'm not one for panicking, but he's really not himself.

The lump wasn't there before his nap, he's got a temp of 38.4, flopped on my lap at the mo, and has been a bit hot on and off for a few days.
We'll be at the Docs in a couple of hours, but I haven't got a car and there's no hospital in my town, so Docs is the only option for now.

Can anyone advise? Thank you!

I just checked your time line. So will have been to the doc and hopefully he is on the mend.

For future note. Calpol for temperature and give it 30 mins take he temp every 10 mintues if it doesn't move after 30 mins if he he was still the same either take him to the doc straight away or call an ambulance.
