Repeated petechial rashes

Has anyone any knowledge/experience of this?

I am getting quite stressed as DS2 has history of being v poorly so my judgment often not brilliant.

For approx 2.5 months he has been having petechial rashes. Some bigger than others, some down to just a handful of small spots, a couple of times quite widespread. Every limb has had spots at some point.

They have done bloods - nothing. Urine - nothing.

I am worried it will be some rare bastard vasculitis. Doc is now writing to his old consultant as the GP has no idea what it is.

Is it sometimes just post-viral and not something scary? I'd really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Ds has had viral rashes since he was 2 weeks old. They vary between huge red/purple spots to tiny pin pricks over his (usually) ears. He's been covered in them a couple of times, coming out so quickly you can watch it spread.

He's had bloods done and nothing has ever been pulled out from them. Now he's 5yo they are usually a few spots on his ears and temples, you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking.

I was sure he was going to turn out to have a rare blood problem, but so far he hasn't, and it's definitely much better than it was.

Thank you, I am so scared. DS2 has always been tricky and its hard not to panic. Do you/your docs ever worry now or have you been told he's fine? Glad to hear you've never had any bad tests or anything.

I've always had petaechial rashes - atm theres a patch on my arm. I also get tiny splinter bleeds under my nails which are the same sort of thing. Extensive tests over the years have determined that... its just one of those things.
I do bleed very easily, bruise badly, and will get a petaechial rash if I carry a heavy bag on my shoulder, or wear something that is tight on an area.

My DS gets them every time he has a bad cold. Even if he has a really big laughing session he gets them on his temples! I didn't realise it was something to worry about. Eek. I've shown the doc a few times and he said it was fine.

DD has had them several times this year (a month or two apart) on her upper lip like a moustache. Bloods showed a couple of odd things but nothing which stood out as a cause. Doctors and us have decided to relax and treat it as one of those things some people get (although we'll still keep an eye out for any change).

Thank you all and pleased to hear all your dc and you dibbler are well. I'm so scared, I was hyper-vigilant til ds was around 2, then I relaxed but this has kicked me back off. I am going to try to trust all is well.
