Hiya.. My 3 year old son has had black poo for a while now, sometimes it is black with some dark brown or light brown bits init! It smells offensive and he often complains that his belly hurts.. Anyone else had this problem and any advice as I'm worried about it and not quite sure wether to take action onit or not! Any comments would be appreciated...

Go and see your GP.

I had similar not long ago. A change of diet and cutting out things I am intolerent to and all is well again and I feel much better for it.

Black poo is a symptom that needs checking by a gp, there is no way anyone here can make a diagnosis.

Please make an appointment for your ds.

Another vote for seeing your GP as soon as possible

Black stools can mean there is intestinal bleeding

GP.

It's possible it's totally innocuous (change of diet, especially eg first exposure to beetroot) but you need someone you know to be medically qualified to assess this.

I would take him to the gp. I know that iron supplements can cause black poo but he's not likely to be on those.

I've called my doctors and waiting for a gp to call me back today between 3 and 6-30pm ! Thanks for advice !
