My 9 month old dd has a temperature of 37.9. Ive given her calpol and had her by the window, and it is now back to normal. But she is really uncomfortable! Squirming around like her tummy is sore. She's Been bringing up constant wind all evening. She's finally drifted off, but last time we had the same symptoms, we had unbearable screaming at 3am followed by vomiting, diarrhoea and a paramedic!!! I don't want another night like that. Already ages 10 years that night! But I'm wondering if this is my fault?!....

This evening for her dinner we were out. She had a salmon dish I made from anabel karmel (is frozen and has had 3 time before.) which I mix with other veggies as She's not keen on it. Basically when I'm at home I heat this till hot then cool it down, but we were out and they only heated it to warm. Have I given my dd good poisoning giving this to her? It is precooked, frozen and defrosted. I'm beside myself!!! I'm feeling a bit yuk myself but having been up 2 1/2 hours it could be hunger, or kudtvthr thought if fish food poisoning! :(( thanks xxx

Hmm, I think that if the fever is not very high and comes down easily with Calpol and she doesn't have any other worrying symptoms, I wouldn't panic. I doubt it's the salmon, but she could have caught some sort of infection or stomach bug from someone...I think just wait til the morning and then decide whether you need to take her to the docs. Or maybe call NHS Direct? I wouldn't worry about a stomach bug, but is appendictis a possibility? I doubt it, because then she would be properly miserable, not just bit uncomfortable with the wind Hmm What does your 'instinct' tell you?

I'm up because I'm waiting for an OOH lab person to come and take DD's pee sample so we can start AB treatment for UTI. Doc came 4 hours ago and now the bloody lab people still aren't here. Grr.

Ahhhhh winnybella. Thank u so much fir ur reply. So sorry ur at hospital!! Hope ur dd is ok and stoopid lab person has been!!

I just got 1 1/2 kip before she started squirming again! DD is a bit snotty. I thought it was her difficulty breathing that was making her stir thro the evening. So maybe teeth (she has none yet!!) but we have been here before with gastrointestinitis So I think ur prob right with tummy bug. I'm waiting for the vomiting to begin :( atleast her temp Is down. Am so hoping it's not the salmon. I should think she would be poorler tho!?! I'll keep u posted xxx

It sounds like a tummy bug. Why did she end up with a paramedic last time?

Her temp really isn't very high so try not to worry.

I'm up with dd 20m, temp around 39 since saturday and all the signs of a UTI but apparently the docs here say I have to wait until Monday for them to test her urine and in fact, then it'll be sent away so I won't get results until Wed prob. Good luck Winny!!!!!

winnybella · 11/06/2012 09:10

Hope your DD feels better, Mjtay.

eastendy-Shock Wtf? Hope they'll give ABs today and not on Wednesday!

Mjtay · 11/06/2012 10:11

Thank u both for ur 24 hour support! Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply. She just continued to squirm and I ended up propped up with her sleeping on me. She never did vomit. I could just hear alot of gargling. Air out of both ends this morn! We have had alot of trouble with her tummy in recent times. Possible dairy sensitivity, swapping milks and settling on it being reflux and treating with infant . But with the temperature (and generally not herself this morn) I think there's something not quite right tho. I was petrified to give her her bottle this morn (as that was when last time turned from screaming to vomiting, and paramedic as it was thick with mucus and (prob overreacting) choking) but no problems. She only took 4 oz and went back to sleep for an hour (me too!) and has eaten her breakfast with no worries. Guess she can just be a bit under the weather!! Sad

Ahhhh eastend that's terrible. Ridiculous!! Kick some butt! Bella....(can't remember first part of ur name, on my phone and can't look at posts whilst typing!) bet u and ur dd are tired Sad hope u got it sorted xxx

What a night! I went to bed early at 9 to catch up on the night before. Dd had me up 4 times before midnight! Her temp is generally back to normal (till hubby put the heating on last nite!) but she was squirming all night, having to be put upright to get back off. She Is a bit snotty, and she's a thumb sucker, so was struggling to breathe to self settle. I'm exhausted!!! I really can't pinpoint the problem. She's not pulling at her ears, not chewing moreso , and has woken and generally seems well. when we had troubles with her tummy before, she was throwing herself backwards screaming after every bottle. This is only affecting her sleep. Have to go to drop in surgery at 8 if I go, but I'm so tired! Wanna go back to sleep. Any ideas?! Tia xx xx

It sounds like a stuffy nose is stopping her sleeping. Sorry. Its simple but no easily solveable. Ds never sucked a dummy or thumb so he was never as bothered but dd had a dummy to sleep and we found saline nasal spray helped a bit along with steam, olbas oil and a nicely aired room.

Mjtay · 12/06/2012 09:48

Thank u for ur reply. It was the squirming that was making me wonder more than anything. Trying to use the saline spray is a nightmare. She always pulls away so I worry about getting it in her eyes!! I have karvol on a Muslim near her and baby snuffles oil on her chest. Ho hum!!

Been to the dr tho this morn, and her ears are pink and her glands up!! She has a cold basically, and she said her glands would be up I'm the tummy and causing her discomfort which explains the squirming. Mite try sleeping her in her car seat tonite when she wakes! Too tired x x
