thorn synovitis?

anyone any experience and what to look out for, have googled so confident I dont need to take any action tonight and dd now asleep. But what i cant work out is how common or inevitable it is with a thorn injury directly into the joint area.

she has a thorn in her ankle she will not let me near, happened today, think its hawthorn. She cant walk properly and says its painfull, but it is not swollen or red or hot just now.

Im worried about synovitis but dont want to over react either, should I take her to minor injuries tomorrow or just keep an eye on it? I imagine the thorn will need to come out, either way incase of infection, somehow but she isnt letting me.

I tryed to tonight but as soon as I even gently touched her ankle she pulled it away and grimmaced, so im imagining it is very painfull so I just left it alone, i worried about agravating it too much.
