Is it a verruca?

My 20-month-old has what looks like a verruca on the ball of his foot...I can't think where he got it from as he hasn't been exposed recently (as far as I know). I initially thought it was a splinter as it coincided with his running around the garden in bare feet during the heatwave, but it now looks more like a verruca. It doesn't seem to bother him but is looking a bit red - anyone else had experience of this with their toddler and if so what's the next step re treatment?

Thanks!

I would er on the side of caution and ask my HV!!! Im not generally a complete woos but ive treated veruccas on my own feet before and the verucca treatment that is available over the counter seems fairly strong, wouldnt want to try it unless i was sure it was safe.

Thanks - although I didn't know I still had a HV?! I asked one of the girls at his nursery last week what she thought and she suggested the GP has a look at it. It's looking a bit better now, might just be a splinter that hasn't worked its way out yet!
