Ds is 6 and has been suffering with hayfever for the last month or so.He wont have syrup medicine apart from calpol, we have tried a few hayfever liquid medicines including one off the doctor but all of them make him really drowsy and miserable although do stop symptoms.
Went to the chemist yesterday and they gave us piriton tablets, which were the only ones on their shelf which they thought were suitible for him as he needed to be over a certain weight but hes only 20 kilos. He has been so miserable as though hes overtired since taking them.

Does anyone know of any that are non drowsy for children?

zirtek allergy relief tablets say they are ok for children over the age of 6 but dont seem to specify a weight.

a few of the different ones in chemist had on box that they were fine for over age 6 but soon as they scanned them it come up not to be sold for children under 4st.
They wouldn't even sell me boots own brand that said suitable for children over 2.

Hello - I am not really answering your question, but telling you what seems to be working touches all wood around for DS1 for the last couple of days:

  • switching from Cetrizine to Loratadine (both liquid form from GP, but non drowsy, Loratadine is peach flavoured)
  • using Sodium Cromoglicate eye drops (from GP)
  • using Prevalin for Kids (non-drowsy, it's antihistamine and steroid free)
  • some New Era homeopathic remedy thrown in for good measure!
