Sun Cream for DS with Eczema?

MrsBuzz · 29/05/2012 20:08

My little boy is 5 years old, he has suffered with Eczema since birth, not seriously and easily treated with the usual high moisture creams from GP.
However, the poor little chap has had a bad flare up since the weather has changed & we have started using sun creams. Ive tried all kids brands that you can buy from Boots, sensitive, hypoallergenic & he still seems to be suffering?
Can anybody recommend any that they have tried?
Thanks very much. :-)

I use Lavera Baby and Child sunscreen on dd2. It's 100% mineral based, so the cream protects the skin by forming a physical barrier. Be warned, the cream is heavy, so it leaves white marks and is difficult to rub in, and is expensive too.

Thank you very much, where would I buy it from?

We were recommended Banana Boat children's sun cream last year for DD, it was the least irritating for her, but long loose clothing was a better bet.

Amazon sells Lavera, or other online retailers. Some health food shops stck mineral based creams too. The problem with eczema is that it's trial and error, so what works for my chid might not for yours. With dd2, it was obvious that we needed to avoid chemical suncreams, because her rash developed when the skin with the cream was exposed to sunlight. The cream itself didn't cause a rash if she stayed inside.
