She keeps itching. I've had thrush over the past week and DP has athlete's foot but I find it hard to believe that DD my have vaginal thrush??!! Ooh we sound like a delightful household don't we? Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone's DD has had it this young? And whether to go straight to the doctor or try to treat with canesten etc.... Or whether it's to do with the heat and hot weather. Advice appreciated.

My son had it on his bits when he developed diabetes.

Hopefully it's just the weather, but get it checked out.

dd1 had a touch of vaginal thrush aged about 5, iirc. It is possible, but I would get checked out - there are other things it could be, which would need different ointments. The other possible with itchy bits is threadworm - but that tends to be itchy only at night!

Dd has recently had thrush aged 4.

She used to get it alot when she was a baby too (in nappies) which I think is pretty common.

when dd had it she was prescribed 1% canesten cream

Yes DD has had it aged 2 Sad but not surprising when they spend all day in a nappy getting hot and stuffy.

Made me feel better that when I told nursery about the cream the nursery manager's DD had just had it too. Think its more common than you imagine in little girls.

Don't feel bad - its just the same as Athlete's foot (that's what I told DD, as DS had previously had Athlete's foot, so she called it Athlete's Minnie Grin )

Please mention lichen sclerosis to him to be on the safe side - often misdiagnosed as thrush.

With Dd (6) recently I was told my the nurse practitioner that she had been to a seminar the previous week where they were told that young children do not get thrush as they don't produce estrogen. She said they had previously diagnosed itching & sorenenss in that area as thrush & prescribed canesten. She advised to use sudocrem or vaseline as at this seminar they had been told that it was probably the soothing nature of the canesten that helped rather than the creams properties.

DD had it aged 3 too. Dr gave canesten type cream. I think it's very common
