my dd is 16months and often has mild colds but the last week she seems a bit snotty,is sneezing a lot, rubbing her nose as if it is itchy and her eys sometimes look red.
She has a bit of a dry slightly croupy sounding cough too.
I wonder if it is a bit of hay fever and what can i use withput making her drowsy?

Yes they can do, you can buy piriton for children over the counter

Piriton over the counter is only for children over 12 months. You can try a few extra things to try and help your DC when out. Try and avoid going out first thing in the morning and early evening when the pollen is rising and falling. Try some vasaline just inside the nostrils to stop the pollen going up her nose. Keep windows closed during this time too. Pop some baby sunglasses (the ones with elastic straps) on if they will wear them as it stops some of the pollen going in the eyes. Dry your baby's clothes and bedding inside so it doesn't have pollen on it.

Try speaking to your GP if it persits as they may be able to prescribe something.
