She has an ear infection (went to GP this afternoon) and has been on calpol all day, but the temp has got stubborn this afternoon so shes on an ibuprofen one as well now, but just seems to be getting hotter. Can children this age have temp related convulsions? And whats the best way to bring it down if I need to? TIA.

Has she suffered convulsions in the past?

The way i see it is that the body causes a temperature for a very good reason..to fight infection.
Im in favour of calpol & brufen to sooth symptoms of temperature, but i actually believe that a temperature should be allowed to do its job.

Its a normal physiological response afterall.

But then i dont and never have owned a thermometer. If my child is hot, knowing the number wont change my treatement and care.

I kinda just keep an eye, cool drinks, brufen & Calpol and wait it out.

Well, she came out in a sweat 20 mins or so ago and I have been spongeing her since and wow, temp has dropped really fast and she is suddenly bouncing around!! And wont go to bed since she has been asleep all afternoon. Sigh! Smile
