keeping a one-year-old still after an operation!

My one-year-old niece has to go into hospital for an operation soon and after the op she will have to keep still so that she doesn't damage her stitches. This is going to be really difficult for her; she's nearly walking and only happy on her feet and "furniture surfing".
Does anyone have any clever ideas for keeping her happy and immobile? Her first birthday is in a couple of weeks, so maybe a carefully chosen present might help?

It's not going to happen, sorry.

I have two DCs who've been through surgery at that age and nothing kept them still. Dressings were ripped off, tubes pulled out, etc. There was countless mad dashes back to the hospital to patch them up.

Hope your neice's recovery is speedy Smile
