How long will this virus go on?

My 16 year old DD has been ill since Bank Holiday Monday with a virus that started with extreme tiredness, feeling faint and light headed etc. She has spent all last week on the sofa or in bed when she should have been revising for her AS level exams this week but over the weekend this has got worse Sad with her struggling to move between rooms in the house as she feels so rotten with temperature going up and down, dizziness, feeling sick and faint. Have taken her to the Doctors twice (last Thursday and yesterday) both GP's say she hasn't got glandular fever as her glands aren't up but say she has a virus. She was violently sick in the middle of last night for the first time but feels so rotten all the time and is really fed up with this now as she hasn't been able to take her exams (can do them in January instead but such a shame as she has done so much revising). Doctors want her to have blood tests at the end of the week.
Has anyone else had this sort of virus recently and if so how long does it go on? Thanks

Thanks for your reply duvet Smile. Is your husband completely better now? Was he unable to go to work or go out at all? The only place my DD has been out to in the last 8 days is the Doctors! So depressing at the moment in our house bless her.

Hope your DD is better soon, glad they are doing blood tests just to check there is nothing underlying.
