With out of date baked beans? June 2009. Had them for tea, he was sick twice about an hour ago, nothing since. Now asleep, no temperature. DH has had stomach cramps all evening so he thinks it's a bug. I'm more worried it's the beans Blush. Anyone out there at this time that can offer a b***ing for bad parenting or reassurance? Grin

2009 WAS an awful long time ago Hmm

To be truthful, I don't know whether it's likely to be a bug or some awful bean-related thing.

I would advise phoning NHS direct, who can access specialist advice for you.

Bet you feel Blush

Hope it turns out OK

FirstUpBestDressed · 15/05/2012 00:00

hopefully his body has done the trick by expelling them as quickly as he did?
if it was food poisioning i think he would have a temperature and would have terrible cramps.
hope they feel better soon. x

I do feel Blush. Baaaaddd mother. He's still fast asleep. Previous tummy bugs usually have him retching long before now. Although my stomach is now gurgling Sad

Tinned foods have sell by dates on them because they have to, but in effect, they last loads longer and are safe to eat for eons. Don't worry about it, it was a bug, not the beans Grin

OneHandFlapping · 16/05/2012 14:58

Didn't they open tins of food from a cache left by one of the early polar explorers? Shackleton comes to mind. The food had not spoiled.

So as long as the food was in an unopened, undamaged tin, and not in the fridge since 2009, the beans are in the claer.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 16/05/2012 15:00

Agree it probably isn't the beans, canned goods last for decades, "best before" dates or not.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 16/05/2012 15:02

I agree with the others, I reckon the beans will not have been the culprit (unless the tin had 'blown'?)

GobblersKnob · 16/05/2012 15:03

It will be a bug not the beans.

Maybe time for a cupboard clear out though.

Hope ds and dh recover soon Smile

Thanks all! Think it was a bug, he threw up a few more times that night, was a bit washed out yesterday but right as rain today. Got a bit panicked about beans but also realised the tin was one of 3, 2 of which we'd already had! Grin
DH however is still moaning. But managed to eat all meals with gusto and has gone out tonight. Hmm
