DS has undescended testicle

DS is having an orchidopexy operation a week today. He is 18 months old.

After examination, the doctors have told us the testicle is low down in the groin so should be a fairly straight forward operation to just move it a little further down and into its correct place.

Has anyone else's son had this done? I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help his recovery. I'm thinking of buying a larger size of nappies and vests so there is less pressure on the area where he will be sore.

Also going to hide his rocking horse and other sit on toys!

I'm sure we'll get plenty of advice from the hospital before we bring him home but want to get as prepared as possible to keep my boy comfortable while he recovers.

Thanks.

my ds had this done and from what i can remember it was quite a staight forward procedure and he just had a little tiny scar and i dont remember it being too sore (he is now 8 year old so it was a long time ago so my mind is a bit vague - sounds bad but we have been in and out of hospital for different things they all blend into one). i dont think he could have a bath for a couple of weeks.

My ds had this done at 18 months this past January & he made a great recovery despite being very very active & a non-stop fidget! U will be advised by the docs everything u need to do in aiding his recovery & he will be allowed adequate pain relief. Yes remove ride on type toys for a few weeks & keep his nappies loose. He will be fine & once the anaesthetic has worn off will be up & ready for action! Good luck!

Thank you both for your reassurance and advice. Wink
