Ds's verruca has come off - ok???

Ds had a nasty verruca on the outside of his little toe. Got some Bazooka and put it on. The whole verruca has just sort of peeled off along with some skin from round it, leaving a hole like a crater in the side of ds's toe. Confused Is this ok and will it just heal? it's really close to the side of his nail bed - where the verruca has come away you can see the side of his nail - where you shouldn't see, under the skin that should be there. Oh dear, am not explaining this very well! Help!

I'd let it heal over a bit but you may find that it starts to grow back, at which point you would start with the bazooka again.

have no idea, but watching with interest because i fear we may be in this situation with dd soon!

In the words of The Pixies, Gouge Away! not really
Dd had a verruca for nearly a year. The gel never helped during that time, to be honest - it finally disappeared about two weeks after we started putting electrical tape over it and leaving it there til it came loose, then replacing it. Maybe a coincidence, but....

Pied wagtail - that happened to my daughter a few years ago. I seem to remember that we stopped using the gel and let it heal. After a few days we started to use the gel again but I think the verruca vanished very quickly afterwards.

Just keep an eye on it to check its dry and not showing signs of infection and hopefully it will be gone soon!

You could ask a pharmacist to take a look.

Thanks - he put a plaster on today but it's not sore at all so I think it would be better staying dry to heal. The Bazooka worked like a dream - 3 days and the whole verruca had gone

This happened to ds, but his verruca was on the ball of his foot. I'd stopped using treatment after being told that the child's immune response would usually fight the verucca of without the aid of ointments. One day after a bath I noticed a small crater in his foot and no verucca. Not quite sure where it fell out but I tried not to dwell on that too much Confused

I didn't treat the crater; just kept it clean. It healed perfectly.

Don't worry. It knits together quite quickly. But if it looks iffy, then obviously worth seeing gp. Good luck.

Thanks all - it looks much better and the hole is getting smaller - how does that happen?! :)
