Bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA's)

Hi, DS is 8 & has a chromosome abnormality that gives him (amongst other things) moderate hearing loss & recurrent very nasty ear infections. The audiologist said today that this type of hearing aid will almost certainly help with the infections.
He had them on a headband as a toddler but he will not go for that now, so we are looking at having them drilled into his skull Shock.

I can see all of the benefits and his current in the ear aids are causing him so much aggro I'll try anything. Does anyone have any experience of the actual procedure/ recovery time etc.

Many thanks.

I'd post this on the Special Needs Children board - there are quite a few regular posters whose DCs have BAHAs.

I'm sure you know about it already but the NCDS has talk boards too. Though ime you will get a faster reply over on the SN board here.
