What on earth could this mark be?

Just found a strange mark on DS2s tummy - on the right side of his belly button. It's a small patch of slightly darker skin. It is actually a couple of little patches close together. It looks like a tea stain and at first I thought it was a dirty mark but it doesn't come off! It actually looks a bit like a birth mark but it's just suddenly appeared. Any ideas? Starting to worry! :(

I have these, they appeared out of nowhere when I was younger... Called cafe Au lait spots. My son has a large one which appeared on his leg when he was about 8 weeks old. Totally harmless but not sure why they appear suddenly.

Thanks twilight. I have heard of them appearing after a few weeks - DS2 is 3 though. how old we're you when yours appeared?

I'm not sure at first? But I get new ones now and I'm 30 lol
