Dd 4 came down half hr ago and said she found a red tic tac pn my (very cluttered) window ledge. I havent had any tic tacs for ages and certainly never red ones. Im worried about what shes had but also have np capsules or red tablets. Shes fine but im watching her. What would you do?

Hmm tough one but I think I'd probably call NHS who will no doubt say go to ooh. You don't get red tic tacs do you? Just orange, green and white??? Could it have been a smartie or something and she's getting mixed up.

The reason I say call tonight is that when dd got hold of some paracetamol in rthe car (she had them for 30 seconds before I realised shed got them outmy bag) I took her to a+e

....And they did blood tests (negative she hadn't taken any) but said if she HAD taken some they had 8 hours in which to treat before damage was done.

If they were medicine effects may not show up immediately. Have you had any antiiotics? Any little karvol type capsules? Dog worming tablets?could you go through your medicine cabinet and see if she sees one the same?

There are red tictacs, passionfruit and something I think, but I'd call NHSDirect for advice.

Oh, no-ones had jellybeans or liqourice torpedos have they?

Ive nothing in the cupboard except white round paracetamol. I cant think of anything ive had at all but i also know i havent had red tic tacs. Shes sleeping fine now and had no side effects.

Well my advice would defo be call NHS due to the 8 hour rule for treatment for paracetamol for example. It would show no side effects at this stage.

Just to let u know dd is fine though im none the wiser to what she ate.

well if it were paracetamol you wouldnt see effects yet but i dont know theres anything you could do anyways now.

hope she sok

she's fine thanks. Definately not paracetamol as it was red (she knows her colours) and like a tic-tac. I did have antibiotics but think they were brown. She also said she sucked it and it got smaller and smaller, capsules kind of melt. I'm just hoping it was a skittle or something. The problem isn't so much that I think she could have got her hands on medication, as I'm really careful, it was more that I also knew I'd had no little red sweets in my bedroom either.
