ds2 (hes 13) has had an infection in his toe for ages. hes had , flucloxicillin twice and amoxiclav ( 2 week course )

still didnt get rid , so, the doctor swabbed it and prescibed 2 other antibiotics to take together that it was sensitive to. said it had to be the 2 because there were 2 different bugs there. but, said that it would also be ok if we wished to leave it awhile and see if it could go away on its own.

so, i have been waiting and hoping we could avoid the antibiotics.

today its looking more red again so i went to get the antibiotics . the pharmacist told me we might struggle as one of them is renowned for causing sickness and when i read the leaflet it also cautions against use in epileptics.
ds2 has absence epilepsy ( mild version) and is currently waiting to see consultant about starting medication. the last lot of antibiotics did worsen it but i hadnt then made the connection.

i am now stressing myself out because on the one hand i am worried about the infection but on the other i am worried about the antibiotics effects .

what do i do ?

Go back and talk to the doctor, they will be able to weigh up the pros and cons. I know when I have read the leaflets with medication I have been worried but doctors have reassured me that complications /side effects are rare.

Which antibiotics have been prescribed? There may be (probably more costly) alternatives available?
