Flat arches and orthotics. Experience anyone?

Just been told my DD needs orthotic inserts to correct flat arches (feet rolling in as she walks causing bowed achilles tendons).

We were told that with the orthotics should sort out the problem completely within a couple of years so that, after that, she will probably never need to wear them again. Has anyone had a similar success story with using orthotics?

My dd has had them since age 2 with quite severe flat feet and achilles probelms. they can make school shoe fitting great fun but apart from that she has managed them well. She transfers them between shoes and they have made a big difference. A couple of years is optimistic as dd is 11 now and will wear them longer still mainly to hold shape like retainer braces on teeth. Dancing can be very good for stretching and strngthening and dpending where you are highland is suppoed to be one of the best. Hope that helps :)
