cough - allergy??

Dd (wxm) has had a cough for 4/5 days. She has had a very slight temp on and off (379-sh) but is teething so that could be the reason for that.

She doesn't have a stuffy nose and when she's coughing stuff up it is clear sticky gluey mucus.

Does this sound like an allergy? It doesn't seem worse when she runs etc, its worse first thing in the morning and after eating and during her nap.

Ds has asthma and the cough sounds a bit like his BUT doesn't have other similar features eg:worse when running. Also ds was obviously asthmatic from the word go whereas dd has never seemed that way.

Sorry for the essay - I'm just curious as to what you think? Don't want to go to GP asdits pretty trivial. Considered trying piriton but she hates it soooooo much I'd rather not.

Tia.

I would take her to GP. The worst that can happen is they put your mind at rest. They will understand why you took her.

Thanks, took her and chest is clear so am to give piriton a shot. Might still be a virus.

Well she vomited the piriton straight back. Has coughed all night. Unsettled now, maybe has fever, not sure.

Took her back today because she kept being sick with coughing and there's a definite infection so she has amoxycillin.

Have they swabbed her for whooping cough?

leftmysociallifeatthedoor · 17/04/2012 19:59

No but it isn't that kind of cough. Its a really chesty mucousy cough.
