How soon after chickenpox erupted did your DC return to school?

DD1 came out in the pox on Thurs/Fri and although has had more spots than her sister is coping fine.

She is desperate to go back to school tomorrow, but i think it is probably a bit early. She has no new spots and i think by the morning the exsiting ones will all be crusted (there was only one not crusted a little while ago).

However, in the nicest possible way, she looks like a disease infested specimin and i am not sure that I would not make a Hmm face if another child turned up at school looking like she does Blush

Did anyone else send their DC back to school when they still looked rather ravaged by spots or should i keep her off a few more days until they fade a bit more?

I would say minimum 5/6 days.

Ds was still all poxy looking but he was off for a week and a half! Dd was only 15m, got 1st spot on the sunday and was crusted over and no new spots so couldve went to school on the thur/fri. I think our local health authority say 5 days so ifwy I would keep her off until Tuesday. One of ds's friends came out in spots on the Sat and was at school on the Wed, I was unimpressed.

Thankyou both, yes i think five days 'feels' about right, which would be returning on Tues.
